The 6th of February marks the International Day Zero Tolerance Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Freedom charity are ensuring this year this is really going to make an impact. Ensuring that we are working with an amazing school to make young people part of the solution.
The truth is we really don’t know how many women and girls have gone through FGM in England and wales but its estimated at 137,000! Freedom Charity is marking this day with a commitment to see FGM ended in a generation. 200 Million women and girls worldwide have undergone FGM.
Freedom with the national police chiefs council, NPCC are ensuring that the 43 police forces yes every police force will have 100’s of posters to display from International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation until International Women’s day on the 8 of March.
Asking children to report their parents, their mothers, is proving impossibly difficult. We need to view this differently. The cutters that are being paid are earning a living from cutting young girls. Therefore they are making money for committing a criminal offence. Thus people reporting the cutters would mean that hundred of thousands of young girls will be protected from the dangers of FGM.
The police national lead Commander Mak Chishty,
of the Metropolitan Police said ‘the Red Triangle campaign aims to raise awareness that FGM is a crime and that anybody involved in the process- from turning a blind eye to the act of cutting- commits a criminal offence. This is child abuse and violence against women and girls. We need your help to stop this. Please report any information to Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111 or 101 ‘
